ADIPEC Exhibitor Preparation: What You Need to Know

ADIPEC: scale and significance
ADIPEC (Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference) is the world's largest energy industry event, typically held at ADNEC in November. It draws 2,200+ exhibitors and over 180,000 attendees across multiple halls.
For energy sector companies, ADIPEC is the anchor event of the year. Stand quality at ADIPEC is exceptionally high — national oil companies, international majors, and tier-one service companies invest heavily in their presence.
ADNEC-specific requirements
ADNEC has its own set of regulations that differ from DWTC. Key differences include: structural calculations required for all stands over 4m height, no on-site welding for certain halls (pre-fabricated steel only), specific fire safety materials requirements, and separate utility connection procedures.
The approval process at ADNEC is more involved than DWTC. Submit your stand drawings at least 8 weeks before the show. Late submissions risk rejection or costly last-minute redesigns.
Stand design for the energy sector
Energy sector stands at ADIPEC tend toward premium specifications. Double-height structures with mezzanine meeting rooms are common for stands above 100 sqm. The typical layout includes a prominent reception counter, multiple meeting rooms (2–6 depending on stand size), a product or technology display area, and a hospitality zone.
Materials lean corporate: clean white surfaces, brushed metal accents, glass meeting room partitions, and integrated AV. Overly creative or unconventional designs are less common in this sector — the emphasis is on professionalism and meeting functionality.
Logistics and build-up
ADNEC is in Abu Dhabi, which adds logistics complexity for Dubai-based builders. Transport costs run approximately 30% higher than equivalent DWTC shows, and you'll need to budget for crew accommodation if the build-up spans multiple days.
Build-up at ADIPEC typically begins 5–7 days before the show. Large stands (200+ sqm) may need the full window. Access is controlled by time slot — book early.
Budget guidance
ADIPEC stands typically fall in the premium tier. For a 100-sqm stand with meeting rooms, mezzanine structure, and full AV, expect AED 250,000–400,000. Larger national pavilions can exceed AED 1,000,000.
Annual exhibitors benefit from the rebuild model — storing structural elements and rebuilding at 50–65% of year-one cost.
